Well - or so it seems ... ! Middle of the week and Im sighing into it, chugging along each hour. Quite eventful in terms of gaping wide at a man, staring into his eyes deeply, of course - and stretching my arms at him every now n then - wait...before we delve further into the details, Im talking about my DENTIST folks! Medicine and health care has come a long long way in India, and needless to say I am very proud of that. I didnt think that blood tests were this simple, because Im holding onto a long drawn memory of a needle hurting ma arm, ya, ya when I was a baby! And what strikes me in such places like hospitals is its people. This Lab that I went to one morning had this burlesque lady beaming a smile on every patient in the lab - she was almost hugging each one of us, as if she knew all of us from our diaper days! Next was this really good natured man, Bhoopathy was his name, who had to take the blood samples. His concentration had to be seen to be believed. He could be flying an aircraft with this level of dedication to the smallest of details. Mine was really 'an after all blood test'! He assured me in the kindest of tones, never once lost his patience with one of the most difficult and reticient patients he could have ever seen - ME! Its people like them who make me want to go and have my arms pricked everyday!! Of course I was joking - I will still run a mile, but Im sure the friendly nurse and Bhoopathy will catch up with me. I used to think that such small mercies were usually long gone from our fast moving world. To me, God lives in that warm smile, the friendly hug to a stranger, in that kind word and the only thing human beings know to do and seldom do - SHARE.
We are all one of a kind after all, arent we?!
